1. Background

The Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana (PFAG) is a farmer-based organization working to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers across the country through advocacy, capacity building, and access to modern agricultural technologies. As part of its efforts to promote precision agriculture and improve efficiency in farm operations, PFAG is recruiting individuals for the operation of agricultural drones (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles/Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) for services such as crop spraying, aerial mapping, and crop monitoring to its members. 

The PFAG is therefore inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals for this purpose. 

2. Required Qualifications and Technical Competencies

Applicants must demonstrate competence in the following areas

2.1 Educational and Professional Background

  • A minimum of a Diploma/HND in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Geomatic Engineering, Remote Sensing/GIS, or a related technical field. A first degree is an added advantage.

2.2 Technical/Practical Skills

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience piloting agricultural drones for spraying and/or mapping, with a minimum of 1–2 years practical field experience.
  • Working knowledge of precision agriculture concepts, including variable-rate application and crop-health imagery interpretation.
  • Ability to perform routine drone maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Sound understanding of agrochemical handling and safe spraying practices.

2.3 Operational Abilities 

  • Prior experience delivering hands-on technical training, preferably to farmer groups or adult learners in a rural setting.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in simple, practical terms, with fluency in English and at least one major local language considered an advantage.
  • Availability to travel to locations across the country where the drone services will be needed
