The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Bryan Acheampong, has received a policy brief on “Unlocking Northern Ghana’s agricultural potential through targeted investment in small reservoirs” from the Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana (PFAG). At a brief meeting in his office to discuss other matters related to the agricultural sector, the President of the Association, Mr.  Wepia Addo Awulgwa presented the document, which he hoped will guide the Ministry in reforming irrigation development under the One Village One Dam Policy.

The Minister, on his part was grateful to the Association for working hard for the interest of small holder farmers. He promised to study the report and work with the appropriate agency to ensure that irrigation is improved in the country. In attendance at the presentation were the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Mohammed Hardy Turferu, the Chief Director, Mr. Kofi Essiamah; the Director for Policy, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Madam Josephine Quagrine and the Director for Directorate of Crop Services, Dr. Solomon Ansah.

The Policy Brief highlights the key findings and recommendations from a research work carried out by the Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana, as part of the activities under the “Sustainable Employment through Agribusiness (Agribiz) program funded by GIZ.
